Pastor Peter's carepoint 3

Pastor Peter's carepoint 3

He is so beautiful, my heart hurts.
On his leg, a large open wound.
I show Kriek, and she gets the first aid kit from her car.
Put him down on a back chair,
but he is nervous.
I keep my hand on his head
playing with his hair
telling him it's going to be alright.
Cleaned, with bandaid in place,
I lift him up again
and tickle his neck with my lips.
He giggles and giggles.

Inside the church
three bare compact flourescent bulbs
hang from the ceiling.
Too far from the nearest electric lines
these bulbs are connected to the battery
on Pastor Peter's truck when light is needed.

Pastor Peter's truck is a light blue work horse.
Drives far to pick up church-goers.
Drives far to pick up food.
Drives farther for gas.
In this wide open place,
much depends on this little truck.

We ask Pastor Peter about his dreams.
He has big dreams.
Dreams of a permanent building.
Dreams of a school.
A school without fees.
Dreams of training programs
to give his people marketable skills.
A well already in place,
He dreams of a garden.
A large garden to feed the children.
But before the garden he needs a fence
to keep out his neighbour's
wandering cows and chickens.
Before the school he needs a fence
to keep the building materials
from walking away.
Much depends upon a fence.

I carry a boy in a light blue sweatshirt.
He is so beautiful, my heart hurts.
Tickle his neck with my lips.
He giggles and giggles.
I gently put him down
and wave good-bye.

You sharing your trip with us is incredibly moving. I can't imagine how moving it must have been to actually experience it

Jules- God must be doing the translating I was needing... :)

TK- I'm still a little messed up, truth be told. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thanks, bro.

I'm catching up on all your poats. For some reason, bloglines, just never shows me your updates, so I was behind the times.
Beautifully and poetically written!
And your photos are gorgeous as well!

More great writing and such true reflections of what's going on over there.

BTW, from a technical standpoint, how do you get the line frames around your blog photos? It really sets them off well.

Glaucia- Thank you on both counts. :)

Elysa- If you post from flickr, it automatically adds that black box. I know you can do it manually with code, but that's waaaaay out of my league!
